I’ve had an onset of Shingles. The aftermath left me achy & listless for days. I felt just well enough to feel guilty for not doing anything, but not so guilty that I actually did much.
A statement on social media kind of summed it up…”I either have my make-up on & my hair done, or I look homeless. There is no in between.” LOL
Southerners use expressive metaphors & similes in their speech. Two came to mind during this time. I felt like “the dog’s dinner”…& one look in the mirror made me think “I look like something the dog dragged up.”
This got me to thinking about a “dog verse” I recalled from the bible.
Proverbs 26:11 As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly.
If you’ve ever seen this disgusting doggy activity happen (I have), this verse comes alive. Apparently, God likes expressive metaphors & similes, too.
A little research on my part informed me that dogs do not have the ability to grind their food like people do. They also do not have enzymes in their saliva to aid their digestive process like humans, so big pieces of food eaten quickly…well, you get the picture.
But let us focus on the fool returning to his folly. A fool says in his heart there is no God. The bible also says that a fool will not receive instruction. Even a rebellious BELIEVER can be called a fool.
Unless we humble ourselves to learn the folly of our human nature, we will revisit foolish behaviors over & over. BUT the good news is that we have the power to overcome through Christ Jesus.
I’m sharing today a link where you can find recipes for homemade dog biscuits. This lady seems to really enjoy baking for her dog, & has learned what to avoid ingredient-wise what might be harmful to the pooches in her life.
