The date was set & the flight reservations were made. A rental home with a pool awaited us. Our trip to Orlando for me, my 2 children, and 3 single moms plus 2 kids was surely something to anticipate.
It was only after all the plans were made that Universal Studios announced that the opening of a new theme park attraction, the main reason for the trip in the first place, would open 2 weeks AFTER we were in Florida.
My kids & I were SO disappointed! I called Universal Studios explaining how we had planned a trip around the opening of the attraction, & asking if there was any possibility of entering before the grand opening.
The ’20-something year old’ reading from a sanctioned press release stated, “I’m sorry ma’am. If you had purchased a Universal Studios package, we would have honored that & allowed you in the park before the grand opening.”
I replied, “I guess it does no good to complain then.” The young woman said, “I’m sorry. We have to respond to every complaint.” (I promise you I kept my tone of voice pleasant.)
I thanked her, but I tucked away that bit of information. I began praying that somehow the Lord would work it all out. I really wanted this experience for my children, and I wanted them to see how our heavenly Father opens doors and intervenes on our behalf, especially now that their earthly Dad was no longer with us.
I am convinced that God is in the details of our lives. How we respond to life’s disappointments matter to Him, because we are His children.
I waited 2 weeks, then contacted customer relations once again. This time the Director of Customer Relations responded to my call. As I explained the reason why this trip was so important to my family, she made no promises, but she did give me HOPE!
