There are decisions in life that once placed in motion, there is no turning back. You are fully committed.
I waffled back and forth over this one for at least 4 years. I thought it through. I imagined and welcomed the outcome, but the work to get to that place had me dragging my feet to take that first step. I also feared what I would discover when I the process had begun.
What caused me such distress you ask? In a word…WALLPAPER! My home is a Colonial on the outside with Victorian wallpaper inside. It resides on the main floor, the curved staircase with a high ceiling, and in the upstairs hallway.
To my thinking, that wallpaper influenced the color scheme of every room that was directly connected to it-literally all but two in my home.
I have removed wallpaper before and if the wall is not properly prepped BEFORE it is applied, it can be a huge ordeal to remove. I had no idea if the previous owner had done this when the paper was hung some 20 years before. I knew that once that first strip was removed, there was no turning back! There would be a work in progress.
My indecision over this wallpaper dilemma sort of reminded me of the internal struggle I had before I accepted Christ as my Savior.
The Bible tells us that Holy Spirit draws us, prepares our hearts, and when the time comes, we either accept or resist. Many times, we feel this Holy Spirit wooing more than once before we submit and accept by faith the gift of Salvation. I sure did.
When I decided to follow Jesus, by God’s grace and help, there would be no turning back. I am now His work in progress!
I’d love to share the before and after picture of my ‘No Turning Back’ Project, but I’m not quite done yet. :-) It’s a work in progress.
